Bridgetowns 150th Birthday

Bridgetowns 150th Birthday

Hi folks,
So just a little update…
150 is in full production. The team are telling me how happy they are with it, and I just can’t wait to see the final product.

The world of self-publishing has been a roller coaster ride. I ignorantly assumed it was going to be easy, having printed many books previously. They were just one-offs however. It appears that when a company which you thought you knew very well, start printing in volumes, everything changes. Luckily I left time for such errors. I am confident though – that this journey has lead me to being able to produce the best book possible. The process of seeing, leaving and revisiting has allowed me to tweak without over doing. And I really believe that leaving the artwork in the capable hands of Inscope books, Australia will produce the historical keepsake which I want this book to be. I am positive that this book going to last long after we are all gone, and our future generations will be looking at how funny we look!

Pre-sales are going really well, with half of the books already sold. If you do want a book, please reserve a copy to avoid disappointment. http://victoriabaker.com.au/book/150/

I am now in the process of organising the launch party. The venue has changed from the Emporium Bistro in Bridgetown, to 96 Hampton St, which is just under the Emporium in the old Lifesports building. Thanks to Brady Jausel for donating the empty shop for the day. The space is perfect. It is a big gallery space suitable for a half decent exhibition, with additional rooms for Steve Dean’s (Twodee Creative) short films. The veranda will be great for people to warm their cockles with the abundance of mulled wine, kindly donated by Mark Hollett.

And all of this is happening on Saturday the 9th of June, between 2-4pm, which is when Bridgetowns 150th Birthday celebrations are kicking off. There will be a long table afternoon tea, entertainment, a light and projection show and live music. https://www.bridgetown.com.au/about-us/our-150th-birthday

So come and join us, pick up your book, buy a book, get it signed and enjoy this wonderful town’s birthday!
