Portraits of my journey as a mother

Self Portraits of my journey as a Mother The process of creating another human being truly is a miracle. Today, a few years older and with child in tow, I got in front of the camera again, to document my own journey. Contrary to these photos, I am not someone who manages to embrace pregnancy particularly…

Little Maisy amongst the Mushrooms at Foresters Wood, Manjimup

Mushrooms at Foresters Wood, Manjimup. Melissa got in touch with me this week as her daughter Maisy is turning one. She mentioned that she had red hair and would like to get some shots of her amongst the beautiful autumn leaves. Initially I was thinking of the tree park in Balingup, https://www.goldenvalleytreepark.org.au/ but then after giving…

Family portraits at old homestead ‘Nairnup’

Family portraits at old homestead ‘Nairnup’ Just before Christmas, I shot some family portraits at an old homestead of Kacey and her siblings. Wyalkatchem Family Portraits

Originally I had hoped to photograph Sharney, Maddy & Hannah around my brother’s property outside of Wyalkatchem. The wheat fields, salt lakes and old rusty farm machinery, combined with the Wylie light make it an ideal location.
Unfortuinately, with my brother living in the middle of nowhere, this didn’t happen. Instead we did them in town, but as it was, this worked out rather well. 3 young children collectively, don’t tend to have a very long concentration span. The dog however was very cooperative!

I used treatments on these as I think it suits the theme. As the girls resembled fairies, the haziness, muted tones and changes to saturation gave them all a very mystical feel.

As a general rule I don’t normally enhance images so that they are too far removed from a genuine photo, but I think in this case it works really well.

Wyalkatchem family portraits are something to cherish. Especially with girls as adorable as these three. Photographing them in their environment, with their sisters really brings out their little characters.
