Ampersand Estates is a new luxury Pemberton wedding venue. Formally known as Donnelly River Wines, the owners Corrie & Melissa have brought this magnificent winery, accommodation and now wedding venue back to life with modern chic decor throughout. This combined with it’s rustic history and stunning views of vineyards, the Donnelly River and the karri forest provides a magical wedding venue straight out of a fairytale.
As soon as Aoife & Brett got in touch with me, I knew we were going to get on just fine. The first thing Aoife told me was that her strangest talent was being able to do shots upside down!
Also being Irish, I felt she and I were really able to connect over how hard the last couple of years have been, with not being able to see our families. The borders had just opened again, and suddenly it was all go – Aoife was taking on the task of organising her wedding in just 3 months! No mean feat by any means.
Absolutely spoilt for choice in terms of accomodation; the estate boasts a charming Settler’s Cottage, a gorgeous homestead and a elegant 5 bedroom Vintner’s Residence. Suitable for housing the entire family. Less than ten minutes drive down the road is the Karri Valley RAC resort, which is just perfect for accommodating all of the wedding guests.
Ampersand Estates is a DIY Pemberton Wedding venue, meaning that you can totally customise it to your own unique taste, with multiple options depending on your personal liking and the style of wedding you’re wanting.
The Terrace is an outdoor wedding and reception venue situated just above the Donnelly River.
Any wedding venue that can easily accommodate a winter wedding is a thumbs up for me!! Aoife & Brett chose The Old Barn as their ceremony location as the weather was keeping us on our toes a little bit. Originally built in the 1940s, Corrie and Melissa have added huge windows to the original jarrah timber, showing off the magnificent scenery as well as bringing some stunning natural light into the building. Other features include the gorgeous sliding barn doors, which enable the venue to stay warm and cosy well into the night. This venue is spacious inside and can occupy up to 150 guests.
Aoife & Brett had a traditional ceremony in both an Irish and Australian sense. There was the lighting of a candle and the acknowledgement of country and welcome to country. There was a lot of laughter and some emotional moments too.
And after a few family photos which were photographed in front of the gorgeous jarrah inside The Old Barn, the rain stopped and myself and the bridal party set out on our adventure!

Some might say that I’m a little bit of a bad influence on Aoife! And she on me, especially when it comes to mud and rivers. We did get a little carried away and ended up on the other side of the river. Brett consequently had very wet shoes – Sorry Brett!!
Sopping wet feet but with high spirits – these two head back to Ampersand’s Old Barn for their party of a lifetime!
How to enter your wedding reception! by Aoife & Brett. They then mingled with their guests and sipped on the plentiful supply of Ampersand Estates wines, emu bitter and cocktails from The Hive Bar
After the speeches and a bit of a boogie, I left the Aoife and Brett to party on into the night…
