There are so many incredible South West Elopement Locations, both in Margaret River itself & the other nearby towns. Personally I think eloping is an absolutely EPIC way to get wed!! Not only are they minimal fuss, but for all of you adventurers out there, this is a way of having a wedding which reflects the real you. And if you really want to tick all of the boxes, you can throw a big party afterward.
We are pretty spoilt down here with our world class beaches and karri forests. And when you really start to look around at what’s on offer, well we have it all really.
Whilst adventurers at heart and seeking a bit of wilderness, I know that most of my elopement couples will like a bit of luxury in terms of accomodation and food, especially on their elopement day. What I’ve come to realise is that Pemberton offers all of this and more!! Surrounded by some of the biggest karri trees in the world, Pemberton is for the couple who are seeking something a little bit more off the beaten track. An adventure on their elopement day. The exciting thing is that I (With the help of my husband – 4wd extraordinaire and a wealth of south west coast knowledge! )will soon be offering 4 Wheel Drive Adventure Elopements!! We will explore kilometres of stunning karri forest before hitting the Yeagarup Dunes the largest land-locked mobile dune system in the southern hemisphere. The sand dunes form a ten kilometre long body of sand. From forest to desert, it really is quite surreal, but of so amazing! Definitely a favourite spot of mine, especially at sunset. Get in touch with me for more details!
As it so happens, the quaint little town of Nannup where I happen to live is surrounded by forest. Nannup is another Margaret River Elopement location as is a little hub situated between Busselton, Margaret River and Bridgetown.
Here’s a little snippet of a Nordic Inspired Adventure Elopement Styled Shoot which I shot in Nannup just recently, using Lauren & Mitch as our real life couple. The weather and terrain suited our vibe perfectly. Hair & Makeup was done by Sam @ SO Makeup Artistry and Florals by Linda @ Aromatic Passions
Nannup isn’t just about being off the beaten track. Here’s the beautiful elopement of Nea & Straughn which I shot on the rolling hills of Tanjanerup, a farm just out of Nannup which also has 2 gorgeous little chalets for hire! Or this elopement which I shot of Gen & Will on the banks of The Blackwood River.
In my view there are lots of different elements; The bustling Margaret River town itself, being at the centre of it all. It really is a food and wine haven with a vast amount of restaurants and wineries to choose from. And from here you don’t have to go far to enjoy the fabulous forest either. River Glen Chalets is the perfect example of this.
If it is the Karri Forest you’re after, then I can highly recommend Boranup Forest. Boranup is very easy to access and is close to the hustle & bustle of Margaret River. Fancy something a little off the beaten track? then I would head to Pemberton. I have some news coming out very shortly as I will (with my husband who is a 4wd king and has a wealth of South West Coast knowledge at the helm) be offering adventure elopements, off the beaten track, through the karri forest and out onto the Yeagarup Dunes! Email me for more info! Looking for more inspo? I have another post featuring 5 Epic Elopement Locations HERE
Boranup Forest in her current state (March 2023) Still pretty magical but has nowhere near returned to her former self just yet!
An awesome little coastal town just 15 minutes from Margs. There is something about the colour of the surf here. Plus I love the little jetty and the way it’s so easy to run around on the rocks and capture that awesome sense of adventure.
The coastline between Dunsborough and Yallingup is all levels of epicness with it’s white beaches and amazing rock formations. Little Meelup beach on the east is a perfect spot if you want to run over rocks, play in the sand and splash in the calm waters.
Over on the west side, the weather is more dominating, the terrain a lot harder, but the results OH SO WORTH IT!! Sugar Loaf is a fav of mine, and no matter how popular it is, will never get boring!
Inland from the cape you have rolling paddocks amongst the vast amount of wineries, breweries and purpose built wedding venues, perfect if you are planning a micro wedding or bigger wedding. Either way it’s good to know what awesome locations are nearby.
Choose this location in September / October time and you will be greeted by the most amazing forest of lilies. The archway sculpture has been strategically placed to capture that amazing late afternoon light. Seriously this spot does not disappoint!!
